 America's Cup

In December of 1982 Osmundsen was
presented with an official license by
the New York Yacht Club  to create a
series of Bronzes for the 1983 America's
Cup Defense. The introductory exhibit
of The Boats was made in Newport Road
Island during the defense of the Cup.
As fate and history would have it after a
132 year winning streak the America's Cup
was lost to the Australians that year in
Newport.
"The Boats" added to the Bronzes from
the Sea series was the Sculptors' first at-
tempt to bring  faithfully replicated Boat
designs into the realm of sculpture.
